Faith In Action

By Francis Tan

Lately, I have been contemplating how to motivate the body of Christ to move beyond mere discussions about sharing the Gospel and instead take more practical and impactful actions.

In the bible, in Luke 9:23, Jesus told the disciples:
23  If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

1. It's easy to spend time with people we already know and like. However, Jesus did not confine himself to only interacting with popular people; he also spoke with those who were ostracized by society, such as the "untouchables" or "lepers". Sometimes, we might find these same individuals in our community or church among those who are different or marginalised. We should make an effort to reach out to them and show them God's love and grace.

2. Similarly, it's easy to adhere to our religious routines and feel content about them. But many people around us are suffering and have yet to experience the joy of knowing God. As Christians, it is our obligation to share the Gospel with them and help them feel God's love and grace.

In Matthew 4:19, Jesus said:
19 “
[a]Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

So, reflect for a moment: have you contacted someone who might be considered an "untouchable" this week?

Have you stepped out of your comfort zone to connect with someone suffering or in need?

Jesus calls us to "carry our cross" and follow him, to become "fishers of men." We must be willing to sow in tears and die to ourselves to experience the joy of harvesting souls for God's kingdom.

Don't just be an audience of God's work - participate and make a difference in someone's life today.

Who will you reach out to?
