God’s Grace

By Josiah Tan

How often have we tripped in our walk with Jesus?
When we think we're doing well in our spiritual development, we may be caught off guard suddenly and fall from grace.

How long will we be trapped in this cycle?
The Israelites, who came out of Egypt, wandered for 40 years in the desert as God waited patiently for them to turn their hearts toward Him. They never did, as they were caught up in the daily complaints and distractions, to notice God was just right ahead of them. They eventually all died in the desert, just short of entering the promised land.

Life will take its toll on us, especially when we try to walk earnestly in God's way. We tend to get distracted and occasionally get stuck in the desert of our hearts.

Psalm 6 is God's assurance to us that we can cry out to Him when we trip, and He will hear us (Jeremiah 29:13). God has sent His son, Jesus, to help us step off our wheel of self-condemnation. What Jesus has accomplished on the cross, no one can undo it. Remember to focus on the victory that Jesus has won for you. You can cry out to Him for He hears you, you don't have to do life alone. Focus on your walk with Jesus and take up your cross daily. His mercies are new every morning.

Application What is the one thing that is holding you back from a fulfilling relationship with Jesus?

2 Corinthians 12:9
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

Invite the Holy Spirit to bring about the transformation that you crave.
Pray to "let go and let God".

As we enter into the season of Lent, let's take a moment to remember God's grace and redemption in our lives. You may consider either praying, fasting and even giving of your time and resources, to prepare your hearts as we make a decision to walk closer with God (Matthew 5:8).

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for assuring me that You hear me and accept my prayers according to Your will. Heal me Jesus, for I want to experience a true liberating relationship with you. Holy Spirit empower me to break free from what is holding me back so that I can follow Jesus boldly.

Amen
