Finding Peace In God’s Promises

By Clarence Ng

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus emphasises the futility of worry and encourages us to trust in God's provision. Amidst life's uncertainties, God promises us peace.

Life is filled with uncertainties, and it's easy to get caught up in worries about tomorrow. Yet, in Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus reminds us of the futility of such worry. He points to the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, illustrating how God cares for even the smallest details of creation. If God so beautifully clothes and provides for these, how much more will He care for us, His beloved children?

Worrying doesn't add anything positive to our lives; instead, it drains us of joy and peace. But God promises something greater—peace that transcends understanding. When we surrender our worries and anxieties to Him, He fills our hearts with His peace, a peace that surpasses all human comprehension.

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

In these words, Jesus promises us His peace, a peace that remains unshaken amidst life's storms. Let us hold fast to this promise, trusting in God's provision and resting in His unfailing love. As we release our worries into His hands, may His peace guard our hearts and minds, now and forevermore.

Amen
