Remembering To Remember

By Dn Audrey Wong

Psalms 25
4 Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Saviour, and
my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me, for you, Lord, are good.

Not sure how many resonate with the sentiment that we just celebrated Christmas yesterday and now it is almost Easter?

Where did time go?

How many new year resolutions have we forgotten along the way?
My 2024 goal is “not to waste my time” (AKA live my life with a purpose), and lo and behold just merely two/three months into the year and I almost nearly forgot my goal and my purpose already.

How many of us (repeatedly) seek God’s purpose for whatever we’re doing, yet so easily get caught up with life and forget all about it when time passes? How many of us (repeatedly) ask God to forgive (and forget) the sins of our youth, yet so easily forget about Him the next moment after we leave church on Sunday?

Today as we seek to draw near to Him, and seek the Lord to show us His ways and forgive our sins, perhaps we should all reflect the weight of this plea. It should not be empty or light words, so easily forgotten the moment we finish our daily devotion or when we close in prayer. Are we truly ready to embrace God’s revelation of His ways and purpose of our every moment; are we sincere about keeping this promise to hope in Him all day long? Maybe we can start by envisioning how this would look like in our today and in our tomorrow so that we can be hyper conscious of remembering God’s purpose in our everyday.

Let’s pray that this conviction will be sealed in our hearts today, and that we don’t forget about it the next moment :)
